During Brent Gustafon's presentation on the budget model, two questions were unable to be presented, so they were forwarded after the meeting for a response. They are included below.
-
Q: Can you please distinguish between AY and FY? I know the terms, but I'm unaware of the start and end of FY if it is different than AY.
-
A: OSU's fiscal year starts on July 1 and runs until June 30. We are currently in the fourth quearter of FY 2024
-
Q: What protections will be in place for programs with low number of majors? As well as smaller classes due to new restrictions on class sizes with core ed?
-
A: The University's budget model doesn't specifically fund or not fund programs within colleges or specific courses. Deans and collegiate leadership are charged with making decisions about how to deploy allocated resources within the college. At any university, it is not uncommon for some majors (or colleges) to produce net revenue and for others to have costs that exceed revenue generation. The planning, resourcing, and delivering the curriculum are choices that will be made by the respective colleges.
