  1. ACTION ITEMS
    1. Curricular Proposals
      Dana Sanchez, Curriculum Council Co-chair, will present the following curricular proposals for approval:
      • English Undergraduate Major (BA, HBA) – College of Liberal Arts, Key #311
    1. Faculty Senate Slate of Candidates 
                The 2020 Slate of Candidates will be presented for approval during the meeting. President Dwaine Plaza will present the 2020 Slate of Candidates for: Senate President-Elect, three new members of the Executive Committee (EC) and one Interinstitutional Faculty Senate (IFS) Senator. The President-Elect typically serves for one year, and then automatically assumes the presidency of the Faculty Senate and continues on the Executive Committee for an additional year; EC members serve two-year terms; and IFS Senators serve a three-year term.
                Nominations will be taken from the floor; however, the nominator must obtain, in advance, the nominee's willingness to serve if elected, and the nominee must have previously contacted the Faculty Senate Office indicating they are willing to be nominated. If you plan to nominate someone, please contact Vickie Nunnemaker (vickie.nunnemaker@oregonstate.edu) to determine candidate eligibility.
                All eligible faculty vote on the president-elect and Interinstitutional Faculty Senate Senator ballots. Current Senators will vote on the Executive Committee candidates prior to the December 12 Faculty Senate meeting.
    1. Approval of the 2021 Apportionment Table
                The 2021 OSU Faculty Senate Apportionment Table will be presented for approval during the meeting.
                According to the Faculty Senate Bylaws (Article V, Sec. 1, Paragraph 3), the Apportionment Table remains in place for five years following revisions related to a  University reorganization process or creation or abolishment of apportionment groups. The Apportionment Table was last revised in 2018, and remains in place for calendar year 2020.
    1. Academic Regulations Proposed Revisions
      Linda Bruslind, Academic Regulations Committee Chair, will present for approval the below Academic Regulations proposed revisions:
    2. Faculty Senate Bylaws Proposed Revisions  
      President-Elect Selina Heppell will present the attached Faculty Senate Bylaws proposed revisions. There are three types of revisions – housekeeping, formalizing current practice and newly created verbiage. These were initially presented during the October Faculty Senate meeting, and Senators have had one month to review the proposed revisions.
      During the November meeting, the action items will consist of voting revisions, Article XVII: Amendments to the Bylaws, and housekeeping revisions which are shaded in yellow. The remaining proposed revisions will be considered during the December 10 Faculty Senate meeting.
    1. SPECIAL REPORTS
      1. Board of Trustees October Recap
        Mike Bailey, Faculty Member, will recap the October Board of Trustees meeting.
    1. Promotion and Tenure Updates
      Susan Capalbo, Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, will present updated information related to tenure clock extensions, teaching evaluations and dossier preparation guidelines resulting from accommodations for COVID-19, and engage in a conversation about proactive guidance and accommodations going forward.
    1. Student Feedback on Teaching During AY 2020-2021
      Robin Pappas, Advancement of Teaching Committee Chair, will describe the ways end-of-term student feedback will be collected this academic year, explain what is happening with the data, and provide updates about the Student Learning Experience (SLE) pilot to replace the eSET.
    1. Sense of the Senate – S/U Fall Term Grade Options
      Dwaine Plaza, Faculty Senate President and Selina Heppell, Faculty Sente President-Elect, will lead a discussion about S/U grade options for students in the fall term.
    1. A Faculty Pulse Check on the Exam Format for the Fall Term
      Dwaine Plaza, Faculty Senate President and Selina Heppell, Faculty Sente President-Elect, will lead a discussion on how the assessment of students using the Canvas, take home or People Powered exam format is going? How effective is Proctorio or other AI technology for student exams? Are faculty feeling like they have enough tools to maintain academic rigor in their discipline for testing of students. Are there any ethical considerations faculty have about these practices?

      1. Remote Participation in Faculty Senate Meetings
        Login instructions to participate remotely in Faculty Senate meetings were in the email message sent to Senators. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, until further notice, Faculty Senate meetings will be via Zoom.

                  The Zoom session will begin at 2:50 PM on the day of the Senate meeting.
                  Please login with your ONID credentials to the Faculty Senate Chat Room. Senators and proxies must log in with their real names so that attendance can be accurately reflected; if you are a proxy, please indicate the Senator you are representing.
                  If you experience problems logging in during the meeting, please contact Vickie Nunnemaker at vickie.nunnemaker@oregonstate.edu or Caitlin Calascibetta at caitlin.calascibetta@oregonstate.edu.
        The preferred login method is to sign in using the Zoom App. If you are logging in using a browser, Chrome is the recommended choice. Users that cannot be authenticated through DUO will not be allowed to join the meeting.
             Non-Senators are welcome to participate but, to avoid unexpected Zoom incidents, the login instructions are not being published. If you wish to remotely participate in this or future meetings, please fill out the linked Qualtrics survey requesting to participate – you’ll need to provide your OSU email, name and unit (please, no abbreviations).Your OSU email will be subscribed to a listserv to receive Zoom instructions for future Faculty Senate meetings.       1. Under the Orange Light – 2020 Election Outcome
        The Faculty Senate Executive Committee presents an Under the Orange Light seminar focused on the outcome of the 2020 election on Thursday, November 12 from 5:30-7:00 PM. Join us for an interactive presentation led by Political Science Professors Christopher Stout, Rorie Solberg and David Bernell and moderated by Erica McCalpine. The event is open to alumni, current students, faculty and the Corvallis community. No pre-registration required. Attached is a poster related to this event. Please feel free to forward this message to others who may be interested.

      1. Board of Trustees Faculty Member Solicitation 
        Faculty member for the Board of Trustees: The OSU Faculty Senate Executive Committee is soliciting nominations and applications for the Faculty Member position on the OSU Board of Trustees. This is a two-year position beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2023. Those eligible to apply include all faculty who are eligible to be elected to the Faculty Senate (academic, research and professional faculty), with the exception of administrators who hold an Executive Level 1, 2 or 3 position (Dean or above). Applications are due on Nov. 20, 2020. The role, responsibilities, time commitment and application/nomination process are outlined at https://senate.oregonstate.edu/sites/senate.oregonstate.edu/files/bot_letter.pdf. Questions?       1. Declining Senator Election
        All currently employed academic, research and professional faculty, regardless of FTE, are eligible to be elected to a Senator position and represent faculty in their respective Faculty Senate apportionment unit. However, Executive Levels 1, 2 and 3 (dean or above) are excluded from being elected, as are Senators who are completing two consecutive three-year terms or faculty on LWOP.
                  If you wish to decline to have your name placed on the Senator Nomination Ballot, please complete and submit the survey at https://oregonstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dg8KUpNGnGu8X7T.
                  Faculty must decline each year.
      1. President-Elect, Executive Committee and IFS Elections
                  As provided in the Senate Bylaws, (Article VI, Section 3) and amended on October 6, 1977, "additional nominations may be made from the floor and the nominations shall be closed." The Executive Committee requires that if such nominations from the floor are made, the nominator must obtain, in advance, the nominee's willingness to serve if elected, and the nominee must have contacted the Faculty Senate Office at faculty.senate@oregonstate.edu indicating their willingness to serve and to allow the Faculty Senate staff to determine candidate eligibility.
                  The University-wide election of the President-Elect and IFS Senator will be conducted electronically between November 20 and December 9. Ballots will be distributed to all eligible voting members of the OSU faculty, in accordance with current Faculty Senate Bylaws. Voting must be completed no later than Noon on December 9 and results will be verified prior to the December 10 Faculty Senate meeting. The individual receiving the highest number of votes will be declared the elected official in each of the elections.
                  Election of new members of the Executive Committee will be conducted electronically prior to the December 10 Faculty Senate meeting. Those candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected. Tie votes shall be resolved by written ballot in a run-off election during the meeting.
      1. Vacancies
        Please notify the Faculty Senate Office if a sabbatical, leave or retirement will prevent completion of your term as either a Senator or Faculty Senate committee/council member. If you are away more than one term, exclusive of summer term, a replacement is required. This information will assist us in identifying a replacement.
                  If you are unsure when your Senator or committee/council term ends, you may check the Senator membership list or the Committees & Councils site.
      1. 2020 Faculty Senate Meetings
        Please reserve the following Faculty Senate date for the remainder of 2020 – December 10; the meeting is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, until further notice, Faculty Senate meetings will be via Zoom.
        As a reminder, Senators are responsible for finding a proxy to represent them when unable to attend.
